Here it says if you upgrade the motherboard, you can go up to 4 GB. What do you have currently?

Perhaps this would help you, it describes the different Dell option. Don't know if you have a Dell i3 with 4GB, or the educational version on a Celeron with 2GB.

Before you do anything, you would be better off to check (on OS feedback)
- if OS supports Chromebooks, and if so,
- which make, model and what configuration has been reported to work well.

You do not want to upgrade and find that it still does not work.

The 2 GB with Celeron processor or 4GB version with i3 processor?
It does not look like you can "upgrade" per se. It's more like shelling out another $380 to go from the 2GB to the 4GB model. Sigh!

I just read in (the comments of) the last link that:
"The Celeron version has a 4G ram option. I think the 4G is worthwhile for the extra $20, but unless you're running a lot of very complicated web pages, cpu hungry offline apps or installing ubuntu, you're probably OK with the Celeron."

This is probably an option when you bought the machine, not sure if you would pay $20 for a 2GB upgrade. In any case, before doing anything, best is to check which make/model/configuration works well with OS.

not sure if this works on chromebooks...
