So for Literacy, I was told to choose a serious poem and find its theme. Can anyone help me out with this? I have to write an essay about the theme of a SERIOUS poem by monday. Will give a medal!
I'd suggest 'Will there really be a morning' by emily wingspaninson. It provides a lot of material for debate, as it has a very serious topic. The metaphor here is that morning represents truth. The 'pilgrim' in the poem is wondering if the world will ever find peace and truth. You could analyze the theme further and also give your opinion on if you personally think there will ever be a 'morning.' You could also try THE BATTLE OF BLENHEIM by Robert Southey. The theme there is war and human violence. It represents how humans focus so much on who wins that sometimes, they forget the morals that they are even fighting for. In my opinion, Blenheim gives even more topic for analyzing. Check 'em out :)
Thank you very much. That helps me out a lot!
Anytime :)
