I need help! What speed will it have after moving through a distance of 5.0cm ? The electric field has a magnitude of 2000N/C .

OpenStudy (shamim):

R u telling abt an electron?

OpenStudy (matt101):

You can find the answer to this question easily if you realize that the electric field is exerting a FORCE on the particle. Because there is a non-zero net force on the particle, it will experience an acceleration by F=ma. The equation for the force exerted on a particle by an electric field is F=qE, where q is the charge of the particle and E is the magnitude of the electric field. From Newton's Laws, we also know that F=ma; therefore, ma=qE, meaning a=qE/m. Solve for a here, then you can use that value to find the speed using equations of linear motion!
