Scientists can estimate the number of bacteria in a refrigerated food using the formula 0.2b=t^2/20 where b is the number of bacteria and t is the time in seconds. What was the approximate time a food was in the refrigerator if there were 625 bacteria?

OpenStudy (bizzeizzy):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b

OpenStudy (butterflydreamer):

it's not b :) We are given the formula 0.2b = t^2 / 20 , and we are trying to find "t" when b=625. Therefore sub (plug) in b = 625 into the formula given to you. |dw:1431226357100:dw| From here, find out what 125 * 20 equals to. Then once you've done this, you have to SQUARE ROOT both sides because t^2 = 125 * 20 and we only want the value of t.
