Equation of the tangent line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for: f(x) = (x-2)^(1/3) / (x^3 +4x -1)^2 at x = 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried it but cant get the slope right its supposed to be 23/96

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

did you find derivative at x=1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 61.3/256

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

hmm probably made a mistake when you did derivative

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

in this case all i do is repeat the derivative and make sure i got thing the right way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait i can just check an online derivative thing. i can probably figure it out lol

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

hhh why don't you work it out instead that way you learn

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

wolfram will give you derivative if you just look for an answer lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oknthanks

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

that should be the derivative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup I got it just a little arithmetic mistake

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

tangent line you need a point where is it?

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

y=f'(x-1)+f(1)

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

that's the equation but need f(1)

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

oh sorry i'm not thinking just plug in 1 into f(x)
