Do you know how to do this?
well ,it depends on the question .....
I did post my question. It's on the picture.
It's on the attachment:)
hmm where is the attachment and pic ?
Here
Hello?
what lengths are say.... SR and SP?
and maybe what lenghts are PQ and QR also check their lengths see if the ratio matches with the ratio of the corresponding sides on the other shape
One sec:)
What what do you mean lengths? The points are (7,5) and (7,1). So they would be 4 spaces apart right?
hmm
as a matter of similarity, we can say that, both shapes are indeed similar due to the AAA test so... you're asked to check it by using the corresponding sides since we know that both are indeed similar we can rule out the middle two choices, because they are
so.. wha'ts only left is are they similar because of \(\bf PQ:QR\implies \cfrac{PQ}{QR}\implies \cfrac{6}{5}?\quad and\quad JK:KL\implies \cfrac{JK}{KL}\implies \cfrac{6}{5}? \\ \quad \\ SR:SP\implies \cfrac{SR}{SP}\implies \cfrac{3}{2}?\quad and\quad ML:MJ\implies \cfrac{ML}{MJ}\implies \cfrac{3}{2}?\)
@Ninesha - is that supposed to be welcoming?
ratio of 3:2 means 3/2 ratio of 6:5 means 6/5
The last part of your post got cut off.
\(\bf PQ:QR\implies \cfrac{PQ}{QR}\implies \cfrac{6}{5}?\quad \\ \quad \\ and\quad JK:KL\implies \cfrac{JK}{KL}\implies \cfrac{6}{5}? \\ \quad \\ ------------------------- \\ \quad \\ SR:SP\implies \cfrac{SR}{SP}\implies \cfrac{3}{2}?\quad \\ \quad \\ and\quad ML:MJ\implies \cfrac{ML}{MJ}\implies \cfrac{3}{2}?\)
if both of those pairs of segments have the same ratio, then they're similar by that test
But there can only be one answer
would it be a?
yes, so.. is a matter of checking the ratios for each so what do you get for say \(\bf \cfrac{PQ}{QR}\quad and\quad \cfrac{JK}{KL}?\)
If i used the scale factor of 6:5?
well... we dunno if they scale out to 6:5 use their length and simplify the fraction once you do so, then we'll see if they're indeed 6:5 or not
okay well P (1,1) Q (7,1) R (7,5) so would the length be 6 and height 4?
yeap.. indeed... the length for PQ is 6 QR is 4 thus ratio is 6/4 => 3/2 JK is 9 KL is 6 thus ratio is 9/6 = > 3/2 BUT, is not one of the choices now let's take a peek of the 1st one SR is 6 SP is 4 thus ratio is 6/4 => 3/2 ML is 9 MJ is 6 thus ratio is 9/6 => 3/2
OOOH okay I see. So I was right then?
\(\bf SR:SP\implies \cfrac{SR}{SP}\implies \cfrac{\cancel{6}}{\cancel{4}}\implies \cfrac{3}{2}\implies 3:2 \\ \quad \\ ML:MJ\implies \cfrac{ML}{MJ}\implies \cfrac{\cancel{9}}{\cancel{6}}\implies \cfrac{3}{2}\implies 3:2 \) well... dunno.. I didn't see your work... but that's the choice, as you can see their ratios is indeed 3/2 for those segment
I worked it out and chose it. It was right.

Thank you so much for your help!!!
