Suppose a study estimated that 68% of the residents of a town (with an error range of ±8 percentage points at 95% confidence) favor expanding the park and recreation department. Which of the following percentages of the town's residents may favor expanding the park and recreation department? A. 92% B. 62% C. 52% D. 82%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i took 68 subtracted 8 then divided 95 and got .631 so im leaning towards b because if i round down it would be 62

OpenStudy (amistre64):

um, you are given an interval 68 +- 8

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we are 95% confident that the true population proportion is between 60 and 76 what option fits within this interval?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

it is 62, but im not sure if your method is valid or just a lucky break :)
