How can i approach this hypothesis testing problem? I know from the data i can find the mean, variance and standard deviation of the sample but in order to calculate, i would need a way to find the population mean... Photo attached of the problem.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what is our best point estimator when population mean is unknown?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

it looks more like a 2 sample test to me, but thats not to infer its a good thought

OpenStudy (amistre64):

Ho, there is no difference, Ha, there is a difference

OpenStudy (amistre64):

Ho: u1 - u2 = 0 , there is no difference. Ha: u1 - u2 not= 0, there is a difference.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

thought they might come back eventually lol

OpenStudy (amistre64):

out test stat is: \[t=\frac{\mu_1-\mu_2}{\sqrt{var(x_1)+var(x_2)}}\]
