OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

The rock cycle is a basic concept in geology that describes the dynamic transitions through geologic time among the three main rock types: sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous. As the diagram to the right illustrates, each of the types of rocks is altered or destroyed when it is forced out of its equilibrium conditions. An igneous rock such as basalt may break down and dissolve when exposed to the atmosphere, or melt as it is subducted under a continent. Due to the driving forces of the rock cycle, plate tectonics and the water cycle, rocks do not remain in equilibrium and are forced to change as they encounter new environments. The rock cycle is an illustration that explains how the three rock types are related to each other, and how processes change from one type to another over time. @JackofallTradez can you give me a shorter answer.. lol and it has to include all of the steps :)

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

@geny55 Rock Cycle: an idealized cycle of processes undergone by rocks in the earth's crust, involving igneous intrusion, uplift, erosion, transportation, deposition as sedimentary rock, metamorphism, remelting, and further igneous intrusion.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but can it be in your own words please and can you explain each step :)

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Steps: 1. Magma 2. Crystallization 3. Igneous Rocks 4. Erosion 5. Sedimentation 6. Sediments and Sedimentary Rocks 7. Tectonic Burial and Metamorphism 8. Metamorphic Rocks 9. Melting

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no can you do these steps please? 1. volcanic eruption 2. igneous rocks 3. sediment 4. sedimentary rocks 5. metamorphic rock 6. magma can you define the rock cycle with these steps included and explain each one please!! :) @KendrickLamar2014

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_cycle tells you what each one means

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know but can you type it in your own words please?? :)

@KendrickLamar2014

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Give me a Sec....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok :) and make sure to include all the steps i told you :)

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Rock Cycle: An idealized cycle of processes undergone by rocks in the earth's crust. In which Magma turns into Crystallization which becomes an Igneous Rock which makes Erosion which is made into Sedimentation which becomes Sediments and Sedimentary Rocks and makes Tectonic Burial and Metamorphism and becomes a Metamorphic Rock and finally melts.

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

That's the best I could do...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but thats from the internet

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Yeah, I havn't studied the Rock Cycle in like.... forever. Sorry :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok :)
