A Web music store offers two versions of a popular song. The size of the standard version is 2.5 megabytes (MB). The size of the high-quality version is 4.6 MB. Yesterday, the high-quality version was downloaded three times as often as the standard version. The total size downloaded for the two versions was 4401 MB. How many downloads of the standard version were there?

@KendrickLamar2014

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

This is how I would solve it: \[2.5x+4.6(3)=4401\] \[2.5x+ 13.8 = 4401\]

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

\[Subtract ~13.8~from~both~sides:\] \[2.5x = 4,387.2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then divide both sides by 2.5?

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Yes, and what would be your answer...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1,754.88

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

Correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you =)

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

No Problem :)
