Celeste made 6 cone-shaped ice blocks that each have radius of 2.8 in. and a height of 7 in. She used a cylindrical container with a radius of 9 in. to fill all of the cones. What is the height of the cylindrical container? Use 3.14 to approximate pi and round your answer to two decimal places. Show your work.

do you guys mind helping me when your done here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure, just let me finish here

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Please don't ask for help on another persons question o.o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yah, -_-

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

@死は最高です do you know what to do?

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yah, im doing it right now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my dad is distracting me though -_-

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Oh okay sorry for being impatient

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha, its fine

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6.53->

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the -> = infinity

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Ohhh can you tell me how you got it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

basically, you have 6 cones, which are half of real cylinders

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now, the cones have a 2.8 radius, which you multiply by 3.14, and then multiply again by 7, to get the volume of each cylinder

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then divide by 2 to make it the volume of a cone, and multiply by 6, because you have 6 cones

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now you know that the volume of all the cones combined is 184.632 in. cubed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now take the radius of the big cylinder, which is 9 in. and multiply it by 3.14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it should equal 28.26

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is the area of the circle at the botom of the cylinder 28.26 in. squared

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now, take the 184.632, and divide it by 28.26, and voila, you have 6.53 inches, which is the hieght of the cylinder

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Well thank you! could you help me with two more?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure ^_^

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

One second ^-^
