help please ^_^ The temperature in the troposphere decreases with altitude. Explain the significance of this on stratospheric pollution.
i'm a little confused with this question because i know that there is a layer between the troposphere and stratosphere called the "troposphere". The troposphere is a region where the temperature remains relatively stable and in this area, it reduces the mixing of gases right? But i don't know how to explain that the troposphere decreases with altitude or why this is so? Is it because the warm air rises to be replaced by the cooler air above? ... I also know that unreactive pollutants have a large survival time and can therefore diffuse into the stratosphere but i can't seem to quite make a link between a decrease in temp in the troposphere and it's relationship with stratospheric pollution :(..
