Bro, relax. Everyone starts somewhere, and there is no reason to have a condescending attitude. 

To answer your question OP, businesses must produce and sell goods, or a service, as well as employ people in order for there to be a strong economy. Of course it isn't quite that simple, but that is probably what your teacher is looking for. Good luck.
