At 10 a.m., there were 12 people in a swimming pool. At 11 a.m., there were 27 people in the pool. What was the percent of increase in the number of people in the swimming pool from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.?

OpenStudy (thedj4jc):

To calculate the percentage increase: First: work out the difference (increase) between the two numbers you are comparing. Then: divide the increase by the original number and multiply the answer by 100. If your answer is a negative number then this is a percentage decrease. So, 27-12=?
