we used to allow multiple medals, it was greatly abused.
medal count is simply a way to quantify a qualitative variable. If medal count defines the 'worth' of a persons reply, then there are people that will abuse the system to inflate their own standings.

Medals are often awarded for simply passing out answers - which is what the OP wanted. Why allow more than one of these?
