Refraction as in of light?

Well, refraction occurs when light enters something that causes it to move slower that is was before, for example when light enters water it refracts causing the light to 'bend' and make the image of what is in that water look different. This is why when you put a straw or spoon into water, it looks like the straw is bent or not strait.
