Two history questions, please help.

Democracy was reinstated and Iranian citizens gained a voice in the government.

Second question:
Iran is not a democracy today, not is it moderate. The Shah died in 1979. He left Iran in January of that year and bounced around a few countries. When he came to the US for cancer treatments, the Islamic government of Iran took hostages at the American Embassy in Tehran.
