i think when it askes what kind of people were in the upper class its asking like their jobs rather than their personalities like nowadays i think that would be the president or government workers or famous inventers or companies liek samsung and apple but what about back then in the 1800s

Usually the richer people were considered upper-class. That's why they did investments and didn't need to work. You usually need lots of money to invest in stuff and you gain even more from profiting.
