THE GREAT GATSBY!! How does the structure of chapter 1 heighten suspense? Think about why Gatsby is mentioned in the first two pages after Nick has already come back from New York, mentioned once in the conversation and then mysteriously appears at the end of the chapter. Why does Fitzgerald introduce his title character in this manner? USE QUOTES IF POSSIBLE!
