Has anyone here ever read "The Great Gatsby" and would be willing to help me?
same man
I can try to
i read the book
So, can you help me to kind of figure out what each person is like. Traits they have, their personalities. Daisy: I know just cares about herself Tom: just cares about himself Nick: is an average person Mr Wilson: Mrs Wilson: Who's the mistress? Mrs Wilson? The Dr:
@Miss.SweetiePie
mrs wilson is toms mistress...mr wilson is an innoceny bistandard you dont read too much about him ill the end ( although he tries to sell tom a car)
the dr. (that is being referered to is kind like god because he sees everything )
Tom and Daisy are both kind of selfish, right? But how are their personalities different? I just started reading today, and I can say that I've never been mad at a book until this book was thrown infront of me. Lol @Miss.SweetiePie
lol they both are the only way their personalities are different is by tom actually having an affair...he thinks that he is top priority that he is above everyone else, he degrates others he even hits on Mrs. Wilson... daisy on the other hand is kind but is selfish she teachers her daughter that being snobby is okay in a sort of way,
So deficiencies between the two would be something like the ability to be sympathetic or empathetic? @Miss.SweetiePea
@Miss.SweetiePie
exactly they dont care about other people they only care about themselves they dont care who gets hurt in the process
I appreciate your help so so much. Thank you. I still have quite a few things to work through and ask, are you still willing to help me with it all? @Miss.SweetiePie
of course I will do my best
Why does daisy think the best thing in the world a girl can be is a fool? Does she see vulnerability as a good thing? @Miss.SweetiePie
is that the only one? you can post more than one I can do it that way
There's a lot. I don't want to overwhelm you. Lol. • nick claims he reserves judgment. Is this the same as not judging at all? • what do we learn about gatsby immediately? • initially, is nick speaking in the present? Is it before or after he meets and judges others and gatsby? • where had nick just come from? •How does Fitzgerald use figurative language to contrast the two women with Tom? • what kind of person says "I'm p-paralyzed with happiness?" • what is daisys most distinguishing characteristic? • what personality traits does nick poses that seem transcend his background? • what does the story about the butlers nose have to do with anything? •why does it make sense, given his background, that nick would want to telephone the police? •why does daisy think the best thing in the world a girl can be is a fool? Is she a fool? • what is daisys tone when she says "sophisticated-God, im sophisticated" •what are the characteristics of the distinguished society to which daisy and Tom belong? •assess daisys statement: "I think the home influence will be very good for her" •why doesn't daisy rush away from Tom with her child in her arms? • considering the fashion in which Fitzgerald introduced gatsby, what three adjectives best describe nicks neighbor? •what is implied about nicks relationship status? • what is Jordan's background and occupation? • who calls during dinner? Okay, honestly some of these I have a pretty good idea about, some not... I've always been one to overthink it and confuse myself. I need to make sure that I really get it. Sorry about all of them ;-; @Miss.SweetiePie
do you still need me to help you? sorry I had a migraine
