OpenStudy (narissa):

please someone help with slicing solids

OpenStudy (narissa):

A slice is made perpendicular to the base of a right rectangular pyramid but, doesn't pass through the vertex. What shape would it be?

OpenStudy (narissa):

@jim_thompson5910

OpenStudy (narissa):

please help my computer keeps freezing and I need to get these 4 done

OpenStudy (sdfgsdfgs):

do u care to guess what the shape it wuld be? its not difficult...

OpenStudy (sdfgsdfgs):

actually does the prob allow for 2 correct ans? there could be 2 possible shapes...

OpenStudy (narissa):

I don't know really maybe a cone

OpenStudy (sdfgsdfgs):

wait....wat are the choices or is it fill in the blank?

OpenStudy (narissa):

that's all it says no choices

OpenStudy (sdfgsdfgs):

|dw:1431478059128:dw| dats how it will look like but the prob is confusing as it does not specify whether it wants a 3D or 2D shape ans... after slicing the piece is actually another pyramid in 3D but not sure if thats the right ans. sorry - u may want to work on other probs first n wait 4 sum1 else to help.

OpenStudy (narissa):

thank

OpenStudy (sdfgsdfgs):

but wouldnt the slice be a triangle if it is made at an angle instead of parallel to one side? the prob only states that "A slice is made perpendicular to the base of a right rectangular pyramid but, doesn't pass through the vertex."

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I don't know what you're asking exactly. It states that the cut has to be perpendicular to the base. So you can't have it at an angle like you want.
