Which equation is equivalent to....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@satellite73 @rational @amistre64 help me!!!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

2 functions are the same when they have the same value for any input. simple test value ... just let x = 0, what do we end up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64 is it?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

no, what do we get when x=0?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

-2(x+3) -4x = 10 0 0 -2(0+3) -4(0) = 10 what does this simplify to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-6

OpenStudy (amistre64):

-6 = 10 now, which option is the same?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=0 right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

when x=0 yes, the options simplify real quick like

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yep, -6x-6=10, when x=0 -6=10 its the only one with the same results so its has to be good

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if we had 2 options that it narrowed to we would have simply tested for like x=1

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the other way, we distribute and combine like terms to find an equivalent statment -2(x+3)-4x = 10 -2x-6-4x=10 -6x-6=10

thank you!!!
