The term "New Deal" was taken from one of FDR's speeches. It was the name given to his domestic program to help end the Great Depression. It's plan to be put into effect was known as "the three R's, relief, recovery, and reform." Laws were passed and agencies created to do such things as end unemployment, give the poor help both economically and mentally, and begin regulation of the things that had brought about the Depression, such as the Stock Market.
