All of the statements are true. That it creates genetic variation is a bit of a stretch, because it doesn't cause mutation, but it would help to maintain variation because alleles tend to become fixed in small subpopulations. The allele frequencies would not move to fixation as rapidly if the population is large. And if there is enough gene flow then you are basically looking at one big population.
