Organize the following polynomial expressions from least to greatest based on their degree: x + 2xyz 9x3y2 18x2 + 5ab - 6y 4x4 + 3x2 - x - 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if they are supposed to be powers, least would be x + 2xyz,..... 18x2 + 5ab - 6y......9x3y2.....4x4 + 3x2 - x - 4. The powers of the highest are the greatest. Ie. 4x^4 is greater than 9x^3, it doesn't matter what's in front of the x.

ohhhh ok thanks I understand now @CremeEgg @jdoe0001

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

\(\bf 9x^{\color{brown}{ 3}} y^{\color{brown}{ 2}}\impliedby degree\to {\color{brown}{ 3+2}}\to 5\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so that would make @CremeEgg wrong?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

bear in mind that only the exponent of the variables is used thus \(\bf 3^2x^{\color{brown}{ 3}} y^{\color{brown}{ 2}}\impliedby degree\to {\color{brown}{ 3+2}}\to 5\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you :)
