Kamilah's uncle, a fire captain, said the diameters of fire hoses range from 1.5in. to 6in. and the hoses are 50 feet long. Find the approximate minimum and maximum volumes of a fire hose in cubic feet.
@jim_thompson5910
Smallest diameter = 1.5 inches smallest radius = 1.5/2 = 0.75 inches what is the volume of the cylinder with the smallest radius?
So I just want to clarify for this. DO you just have to find the volume of the smaller and the larger hose?
yes that's correct
it's technically 1 hose those volumes are just the range so to speak
So for that question, the minimum volume would be: 353.5in^3 and the max: 565.5in^3 ?
how are you getting 353.5?
Silly mistakes!!! Sorry I used both diameters instead of the radius.
also, do not forget to convert everything to the same unit it makes no sense to say "2 inches times 4 feet = 8 inches (or feet)" but you can say "2 inches times 48 inches = 96 inches" (4 ft = 48 in)
oops I meant to write 96 square inches
Yes thank you sooooo..... much! Can I mention you when I am done with the worksheet and mention you then?
Well, depends on how long you plan to stay on OS
sure I can help with a few more
Okay thank you!!
