Which is the equation of the line? A. –2x + y = 6 B. x – 2y = 6 C. –3x + 6y = 6 D. 6x – 3y = 6
first get y by its self... for each answer choice.
and then?
another approach from the graph when x = 0 what is y when y = 0 what is x this gives you 2 points on the line you can find the slope change in y / change in x now for any point (x, y) and one of the given point write the equation and see which choice matches what you have
A fast way would be to take the point: (6,0) from the graph and substitute x=6 and y=0 into each answer choice to see which one gives you a true statement.
B. x – 2y = 6 6 — 2•0 =?=6 6 = 6 true Therefore x — 2y = 6 is the answer
You could also choose x = 0 and y = -3 from the graph, notice both choices work and include 0 since it is fast and easy to work with ;-)
