The following table shows the data collected from a random sample of 100 middle school students on the number of hours they play outdoor games every week: Weekly Duration of Outdoor Games Time (in hours) 0–2 3–5 6–8 9–11 Number of Students 30 62 8 0 There are 1,200 students in the school. Based on the sample proportion, how many students in the school would be expected to play outdoor games for at least three hours every week? A: 744 B:840 C: 960 D:1,104

i will give a medal... :/

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Look at 3-5 hours, and the sample is from 100 students, and we have 62 students who play at least 3 - 5 hours a day. So that's 62%, just multiply 1200 by 62%.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i did that and then divided it by 100 which gave me 744 but this is my 2nd attempt at doing this and 744 is not the correct answer

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

That's for just 3-5 hours, so now we need to add the other ones as well

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

We have to include 6-8 hour students as well, so you have to add them on top of the 744

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yeah because it says atleast

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Yup :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i get it now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one sec let me know if i get it right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its 840

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

That sounds good

OpenStudy (anonymous):
