During a chemical reaction,sum of mass of reactants equals sum of products. But as in a chemical reaction, energy in the form of heat, light can be radiated, the law has been changed and its modern form is now as stated: "The sum total of mass and energy in a system(reaction) always remains constant" Remember: Energy can neither be created nor it can be destroyed. It only changes from one form to another.
