So in terms of this problem
It is quite simple actually
If you look at all of the possible choices you see differences in which direction they open and where the little swoop "U" begins. kind of

These are called transformations and you are going to need to remember them all
a negative out in front causes it to open down, a positive causes it to open up
a 3 says the swoop" middle part is at 3
