given a1 = 4 so 8th term is a1*r^7 = -8.748 solve the equation to get the value of r
I need help I don't know the formula

r is the common ratio so if a1 is the first term then a1*r is the second and a1*r^2 is the third ......so a1*r^7 is the 8th term which is provided
and the 16th term will be a1* r^15
