Help A.S.A.P!! It looks easy to me but I'm too dumb to figure it out. Amanda and Alexis live 4 miles apart. They decide to start walking toward each other’s houses at the same time. Amanda walks at a rate of 3.5 miles per hour and Alexis walks at a rate of 4 miles per hour. How long will it take for them to meet? Round to the nearest hundredth of an hour. [Remember: D = (r)(t)] How many hours would that be?

add the speed of both

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's it? @sourav_aich

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

she is right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no 3.5+4=7.5 hours then. 4 miles doesn't take 7.5 hours to walk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was wrong. It said that the actual answer should have been .53.. Thanks for trying to help tho! I appreciate it. @sourav_aich and @DestinyRocks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

adding the speed then divide 4 by 7.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya i was getting to that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, a little too late...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which is the required answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it was 0.53 hours

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4/7.5 =0.53hrs= 32 minutes

All you told me to do was add so I did and only submitted that. I didn't know you had to divide it. I told you I'm dumb.
