I will medal fan and give a testimony pleaseee helpp

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, what did you get when you filled out the table?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the thing is i dont know how to do this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its soo confusing

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, first you need to pull some numbers out of: A juice company did a survey among 100 customers to find their juice preferences. The customers were asked about their preferences for apple or orange juices. Out of the total 35 people who liked apple juice, eight liked orange juice also. There were 20 people who liked orange juice. And you may need to figure out some numbers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

100, 35, 20, 8

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yes. But the numbers have other information that lets you find the unkown parts. So 100 in total of everying because 100 were asked. So all the liked and unliked must add up to 100... but there is some overlap because a few people liked both apple and orange.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay i kinda see now.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

So, the number that like apple juse and do not like apple juce must ad to 100. The number that like orange and do not must add to 100.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

150?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

150? 150 what? Now, they do not have a spot for liked both, so that 8 may not help much...

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, it will help with one of the later questions. "What percentage of the total people did not like either apple or orange juice?" you need to know the overlap to answer that.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Did not like juce = 100 - liked some juce. BUT, of you subtract out all the apple and all the orange, 8 people would be counted twice. So you have to adjust by 8 there.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im honestly very lost.. >.<

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, what parts of the chate can you fill out with what is given?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

chart... very dyslexic morning for me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A=35 B= 8

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

8 is only the overlap. So it is not part of the chart. If A is likes apple, then B (do not like apple) is 100-35.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b=65

OpenStudy (anonymous):

E= 45

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what is I ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A= 35 B= 12 C= 20 D=27 E= 53 F=80 G = 35 H = 65 I = 100

OpenStudy (amistre64):

aj -aj oj A B C -oj D E F G H I A juice company did a survey among 100 customers to find their juice preferences. good, I = 100 Out of the total 35 people who liked apple juice, G = 35, fine eight liked orange juice also. A is not 35 There were 20 people who liked orange juice. C = 20 is fine --------------------------- aj -aj oj A 12 20 -oj 27 53 80 35 65 100 all good but A really, and i think thats just a mistype

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so, what is A?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

A + 12 = 20 A + 27 = 35

OpenStudy (anonymous):

55?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm

OpenStudy (amistre64):

Out of the total 35 people who liked apple juice, eight liked orange juice also.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

Out of the total 20 people who liked orange juice, eight liked apple juice also.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 8!! sorry

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yeah :) 8
