Question

In Whitman's poem 52 from Leaves of Grass, the speaker states:
"The spotted hawk swoops by and accuses me, he complains of my gab and my loitering.
I too am not a bit tamed...."
Why does the speaker compare himself to a hawk?

to reveal his preference for animals over humans

to propose activities to save wild animals

to show that he can make untamed noises, as well

to show his respect for the beauty of the animal
