OpenStudy (howard-wolowitz):

Is polar coordinates basically coordinates on a circle?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

nah, it's a whole distinct way of describing points in 2-D space, BUT is is really handy for circles and the like. |dw:1431716331324:dw| it is also very easy to switch between Cartesian x-y and Polar r-ø co-ordinates, which is great. just connect them up using Pythagoreas and trigonometry. do you have a specific problem/ thing you need to do?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

btw i used ø above because i can't find the Mac keyboard shortcut for theta. theta is the common angle symbol used in polar coordinates.

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

@IrishBoy123 , I can show you how to get theta on a mac if you want :)

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

@sleepyjess yes please!
