Figure....?
OpenStudy (mle):
@Janu16
of what?
OpenStudy (janu16):
This
TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
If you do not give us all the necessary information, you can not get help.
TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
Do you know how to find the volume of a cone>

@TheSmartOne i posted the pic
OpenStudy (janu16):
PiR^2?
TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
Sorry, it seems like you're on the OpenStudy app and it shows you as offline :P
OpenStudy (janu16):
Ya lol
OpenStudy (mle):
Volume of Cone = (1/3)*(area of base)*(height)

Anyways, the formula to find the volume of a cone is:
\(\sf\Large V = \pi r^2\frac{h}{3}\)
OpenStudy (mle):
(area of base) = (area of circle) = pi*(radius)*(radius)
TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
Ok, so they gave you the height which is 24
OpenStudy (janu16):
@TheSmartOne what is the radius?
TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
But they gave us the angles and we need to calculate the radius first

Do you know the ratio of the sides for a 30-60-90 triangle?
OpenStudy (janu16):
Ya a little
OpenStudy (mle):
|dw:1431804998079:dw|
OpenStudy (mle):
x sqrt(3) = 24
solve for x
TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
and then x is your radius
and then just plug it in to your formula :)

might want to rationalize the denominator
OpenStudy (janu16):
Bit how do you do 30 60 90
OpenStudy (mle):
...?
OpenStudy (janu16):
How do you find the radius @mLe
OpenStudy (mle):
(radius) * sqrt(3) = 24

OH RIGHT
you can't see the drawing I drew because you're on the app
*forgot sorry*
OpenStudy (janu16):
But i dont know the radius !!
OpenStudy (mle):
but yea,
RADIUS = 24 divided by the square root of 3 !
OpenStudy (janu16):
So the radius is 13?
OpenStudy (mle):
you probably should not round yet

I got 13.8 so whats next
OpenStudy (mle):
radius = 13.8
height = 24
Volume = (1/3)*(radius)*(radius)*(pi)*(height)
OpenStudy (janu16):
I got 4786 and thats no the answer choice
OpenStudy (mle):
what are your choices?
OpenStudy (janu16):
@mLe

You havent used 60 which is shown on the picture i think you have to use that
TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
60 is the angle of the triangle which we needed to use to get the radius
OpenStudy (mle):
I did use that
that's how I got the ratio of x sqrt(3) = 24
TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
Can you post your answer choices? That way we can see where we are messing up on? maybe they want the exact value?
