OpenStudy (♥ashley♥):

What is the value of x? A. 53 B. 61 C. 119 D. 114

OpenStudy (♥ashley♥):

Mehek (mehek14):

what do you think?

OpenStudy (♥ashley♥):

I think it's C

Mehek (mehek14):

nope

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Have you considered the sum of the three internal angles of a triangle? This will help you on your way.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Triangle will add up to 180 degrees, so the angle next to x equals 180 - (61 + 53) = 66 The line adds up to 180 as well so 180 - (66) = 114

Mehek (mehek14):

there are 2 ways to solve it you can find the last angle in the triangle and subtract it by 180 or you can just add the 2 angles already given since they equal to x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Considering you do not understand I would use the long way!

OpenStudy (♥ashley♥):

Thanks, that was very helpful!

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

There are many ways to solve it, some more instructive than others. If you add the two opposite angles, you may not learn that the sum of the internal angles of a triangle is 180º and that the sum of Supplementary Angles is 180º. These are important things to know.
