The equation is given Distance = sqrt (2H) (D is in miles and H in feet - so this is an empirical formula - not analytical. Use it anyway) In this case H = 50 feet (45 ft hill + 5 feet to eye level) so work out sqrt (2 *50) (you could probably do it without a calculator if you try! :-)
