Find the probability that a point chosen randomly inside the rectangle is in the circle or the trapezoid. See pic-

This is the hardest one thus far!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you did fine, what do you suggest we do to finish it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I started by getting the area of the rectangle = 6*10 = 60 area of the circle = 12.57 area of the trapezoid = 12 then I got stuck

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, all your missing then is the concept of probabilty \[\frac{\#desired.events}{\#total.events}\] in this case, the desired event is the area of the 2 shapes inside, add them up and the total even is the area of the rectangle

OpenStudy (amistre64):

24.57 ----- 60 or you might want to hold out a few more decimals before committing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get 24.57/60?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh I got the 12 +12.57 = 24.57

OpenStudy (anonymous):

60 is the area of the rectangle - got it

OpenStudy (amistre64):

good :)

thank you!
