OpenStudy (somy):

Been wanting to ask this for long now. Questions about, sexually transmitted diseases or anything related to 'intercourse' in context of biology or medicine. Its questions that belong to biology as well as health science sections of OS, so it should be fine to ask them, right?

OpenStudy (somy):

@tkhunny @e.mccormick @Preetha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't quite know what mean @Somy

OpenStudy (somy):

I mean is it not okay to ask question that is about sex (in biological and medical context)

OpenStudy (somy):

such as sexually transmitted diseases and so on

OpenStudy (somy):

coz i know someone who got warning for this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe it is considering that has to be a topic in biology and health science, so i don't why not...

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

yes it belongs to both subjects so it is fine

OpenStudy (somy):

yeah thats what i think so i wanted to ask mods.

hartnn (hartnn):

YES, as long as such questions are asked with the intention of learning, it is totally fine to ask them!

OpenStudy (somy):

thats good then :)

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Also, it needs to be done with the use of technical terns and not the popular, vulgar ones.

OpenStudy (somy):

so then what exactly is 'with intention to learn question about stds' to you guys coz thats unclear + u can have people just not understand explanations on google or just wishing to ask bio people or med people here so the q might just be 'what is this' or 'why is this' thats about it

OpenStudy (somy):

i know someone that got suspended regarding 'std' q, and i strongly disagree with the action done there.

OpenStudy (callisto):

I think we, as some ordinary users, can tell if the asker really want to know more about that issue for the sake of learning, or just want to start some dirty discussions.

OpenStudy (somy):

why dirty its medicine id understand if the talk was about 'intercourse' itself but std are diseases, and no joke diseases, whether the question was asked with intention to learn or not to, i dont exactly see what is dirty there

OpenStudy (somy):

sorry if i sound rude lol

OpenStudy (vianne):

Actually. If you're trying to learn about "intercourse" people will take it the wrong way then just make it dirty when the asker wasn't aiming for that. :/ Depends on who is going to comment on the biology question. ^-^

OpenStudy (somy):

exactly that too

OpenStudy (somy):

so you cant really judge the asker

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Somy, Cali did not say it was dirty. They said the probam is if someone tries to make it that way. In other words, an academic discussion will not discuss certain things.

OpenStudy (vianne):

Well, can't you moderators take care of that specific person who is trying to change the topic to a dirtier one? :P Like, it's learning process right? For an example, you congratulate people who reach "75" smartscore. What if someone's like "Oh how come not 69?" What, you're going to ban the topic about smartscores now? :P Or am I missing the point? XD

OpenStudy (somy):

yeah thats like the main problem E.m its good to see you guys understand this issue :D well lets hope nothing ridiculous as that happens again or so :3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If there is a sex ed section, someone should write a tutorial on curing phimosis.

OpenStudy (somy):

@wio i guess urologist is better for this one
