Taiwan Premier, Frank Hsieh, delivered a 32-inch liquid crystal display (LCD) television to the Taiyuan Elementary School. Most of the students at the school are indigenous, meaning their ancestors were the original peoples who inhabited the land. The gift marked the start of a government program to give televisions to 422 elementary schools in indigenous areas. The program wants to help these communities access the all-indigenous television network that the government launched July 1. http://209.200.101.189/publications/win/win-article.cfm?id=2755&highlight=technology How might an all-indigenous television network improve life for these children? It might give them job skills and better incomes. It might help them focus their attention in class. It might help them feel proud of their heritage. It might entertain them more than cable television.
