What is the area of the triangle in the diagram?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12(x1−y1)(x2−y1) 12y1(x2−x1) 12(x2−x1) 12(x22−y21)(x21−y21)

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

Is there a picture?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold on for on moment

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u see it

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

Yeah, I'm just a little stuck :/ I kinda forgot how to do this tbh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats ok just help me the best u can

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

Well I know that if you multiplied 7 and 3 (the length and height) and divided by 2 would give you 10.5, but it doesn't give you multiple choice answers in that format...

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

Otherwise I would've thought that'd be the answer. The numbers following the variables are exponents right?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

the area of a triangle = 1/2 * base * perpendicular height the height would be y1 and the base (x2 -x1)

OpenStudy (triciaal):

x1 is negative so it becomes 1/2 (x2 + x1) * y1

OpenStudy (triciaal):

for any x1 so option B would be correct
