Will medal. Johnny has purchased 4 hot dogs for x dollars each and 3 drinks for y dollars each. Johnny spent a total of $11. Mary Elizabeth purchased 2 hotdogs for x dollars each and 2 drinks for y dollars each. She spent $6. Is the system below and its solution correct? Explain your answer. 4x + 3y = 11 2x + 2y = 6 Step One: Multiply the second equation by - 4 to get -4x - 4y = -12 Step Two: Add the equations to get -y = -1 so y = 1 Step Three: Substitute the value for y back in to solve for x into the first equation 4x + 3(1) = 11 Step Four: Solve for x: 4x = 8 so x = 2

"Step One: Multiply the second equation by - 4 to get -4x - 4y = -12" The second equation was multiplied by -2, not -4.

Everything other than that is correct.
