FAN AND MEDAL What is an outliner? How does it affect data like mean, median, and mode?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Outliers are basically numbers, in a set of numbers, that don't belong in that set and/or that stand out. For example, in the data set {3, 5, 4, 4, 6, 2, 25, 5, 6, 2} the value of 25 is an outlier.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

An outlier can increase or decrease the mean and median It usually doesn't affect the mode....
