Grace has a segment with endpoints A(3, 2) and B(6, 11) that is partitioned by a point C such that AC and BC form a 2:3 ratio. She knows that the distance between the x-coordinates is 3 units. Which of the following fractions will let her find the x-coordinate for point C?

Posting the options would help. Posting your attempt to solve it, would help even more :)

@hartnn 3 over 5 3 over 2 2 over 3 2 over 5

I also need help with some other problems if you could help me with those as well @hartnn

hartnn (hartnn):

"She knows that the distance between the x-coordinates is 3 units" which 2 x co-ordinates? you can find the x co-ordinate of C just from the information before that statement... "which fraction" ... I'm sorry, i am not sure i understand the question correctly... let me tag someone.... @SolomonZelman @mathmate

Can you help with others for now? There isn't many

OpenStudy (mathmate):

|dw:1431970017046:dw| As @hartnn said, the sentence "She knows..." is irrelevant. The question wants to know the fraction we need to calculate the position of C.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

|dw:1431970183130:dw| Since AC:CB=2:3, and we know the length of AB then AC:AB=2:(2+3)=2:5 will help us find the x-coordinates of C
