To get the circumference of a circle you do pi * d = 15.7 but since it's a semi circle you'd divide it by two = 7.85, then add 7.5 * 2 to that and add 5 also to get your answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok so i got 15.0+5=20 +7.85=27.85?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok. thx can you help more?

(b) Find the total area of the garden region. Use 3.14 to approximate pi, and state your answer to the nearest tenth. Show all your work. They used the same iomage.

Plz open a new board for a new question it is against code violation to have more than one question on one board.

Area of a circle is pi * r^2 so 3.14 * 2.5^2 = 19.625 then you divide that by two since it is a semicircle = 9.8125. Next you get the area of the rectangle which is quiet easy (l * w) so 7.5 * 5 = 37.5. Finally just add the two products together. (It says to state your answer to the nearest tenth)
