@AllisonRoyal Do you understand about 'common denominators'?
yes
So to add these numbers you need to put them over a common denominator the quickest value to us is 40 what is 7/10 when the denominator is 40? what is 1/4 when the denominator is 40?
40/10 and 40/4
no - it is the BOTTOM of the fraction that becomes 40 so for instance 8/20 is the same as 16/40 (simply multiply top and bottom by 2) so what is 7/10 the same as (?/40) what is 1/4 the same as (??/40)
7/40 1/40
no you need to multiply top and bottom by the same so 3/10 becomes 12 /40 because you multiply 10 by 4 you must multiply 3 by 4 as well so if 3/10 becomes 12/40 what does 7/10 become = ?/40
@AllisonRoyal Do you understand about 'common denominators'? you said "yes" So can you follow my suggestions above?
