mathslover (mathslover):

Has anyone studied Hyperbolic Geometry? I need an advice.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haven't really studied much on it, but was looking at it the other day, I think a good thing to know is a line is not the shortest path in it but a curve is, unless I got that wrong haha, I'll look into it a bit later but for now maybe @rational knows :P

mathslover (mathslover):

I guess you must have seen the video of "Sports in Hyperbolic Space" by Numberphille then? @iambatman ! ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha yes! I was just linking you to it...if anyone is interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6Got0X41pY I know a few other things about hyperbolic space, but I can't say too much at the moment, lets tag a few others @dan815 @Kainui @Michele_Laino

mathslover (mathslover):

Yeah! Hopefully, someone will be able to help me out. My question is - Consider me as a beginner in Hyperbolic Geometry and all. http://www.math.brown.edu/~rkenyon/papers/cannon.pdf I was trying to study from the above link, but it seems a lot advanced to me. Terms like "Light cone" etc. are unknown to me. I've also not learnt 3D Geometry in deep and Topology too. From where should I start learning about them?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

I'm sorry, I haven't studied hyperbolic geometry. I have studied a little of Riemannian surfaces, and something about the Minkowski's space, in order to understand the Einstein's Relativity Theory.

mathslover (mathslover):

Oh, I see! I appreciate your effort to spare time to help me out. Thanks, Michele!
