will fan+medal!! Jamal found the mean hourly wage of employees at his company using the data in the table. In a report he stated, “The typical salary at the company is about $23.00 per hour.” How is this misleading? $6.50 $6.50 $6.50 $6.50 $6.50 $6.50 $6.50 $7.50 $7.50 $7.50 $7.50 $7.50 $7.50 $7.50 $7.50 $60.00 $65.00 $75.00 $75.00 $75.00 HINT: Think about all of the salaries shown and then think about Jamal’s statement.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a. The mean is not a good measure of the salaries because five employees have salaries far above the other 15 employees’ salaries. b. The mean of the data is not about $23.00. c. Jamal should always use the highest wage. d. His statement is not misleading.

Use mean, median and mode for this question. The mean is the sum of all the data values divided by the number of data items. The median is the middle value when the data values are arranged in numerical order. The mode is the item with the greatest frequency. The range of a set of data is the difference between the greatest value and the least values in the set. If one item is much lower or higher than than the others it is called the outlier. Hopefully, this helps :)
