I am working on writing an inspirational story about defeating depression and drowning your demons. I need a back story for the two main characters. I dont have names or back story. Please help!

You could write about two kids from the same home, Foster kids. The foster kids could be struggling in school with turning in work, so the teachers call home. But the kids live alone so there are no parents at the house to answer the phone. Eventually, the principles call the kids to the office to question them about why their parents have not showed up for parent teacher meeting. The kids could then explain why they don't turn in completed work, and why they are not attending school as they should. The kids then learn how to manage a  educational lifestyle, battling the demonds of their past.
